5 weeks since I posted......... living 3 hrs from Boston.....it has hit us hard......

Also in the last two weeks I've said good luck to these two brothers-my nephews- who have left for boot camp - on the left Jason- Navy......and Mat to the Marines......... That was very difficult in these uneasy times-but we are so proud of their dedication and service to our country.
But life does go on......... as long as we remember the everyday important things..............
That every little adventure can lead to a smile..................
That helping grumpy pick out the right bit from his tool box is just as important as.......

Those big decisions in Washington................
And every minute teaching love....... Is what it's all about for our future.........
as my brother took his sons tubing for the only time this summer........ I know his heart must have been so heavy....... Yet so proud...... he's an awesome dad......
Two very strong parents......... And a new Navy recruit and Marine.............  <3
I love you all.............
Love, Aunt Rain

Walking the goats up the mountain........ever notice I seem to be on the "tail"end of things.......

Taking a Picnic break......was as far as I could go.....
Little guy is expressing my feelings accurately.......minus the yogurt face...!
Depending on who you asked....we walked one mile or 5 miles......the jury is still out......
Luckily we never even got to the mountain........goats love mountain climbing......this grandmother likes the "amber waves of grain"--Also known as flatland!!
But it was a fun and beautiful March Maine afternoon!!

Think SPRING!!
Peace, Rain  :)

Diamonds and ice.............

I stopped by this beautiful stream on my way home from church this morning..............our little church on the hill-as it's always been known ......was rocked to it's core a few months ago by a scandal no one or family should have to endure.......but we are forging onward and have become stronger and more grounded and more aware of ourselves and our obligations and commitments to each other and the world beyond.  It has been a time of uncertainty, sadness, anger, but growth and belief in our greater God has kept us going and brought us together again and made us stronger in our faith then ever.
It was always taught to us that one man does not make a church-we are all the pastors of our church......and so we have found.......hope grows......love endures.........and faith continues at our little church on the hill..........

This stream was freezing cold-the air windy and very cold-but inside our hearts it was warm still.....

Peace, Rain

Little guy visits Aunt Coco...farm sitting....down in Brooksville......

Over 2  nights this little goat house for Coconut and Creamsicle went from 2 Nigerian Dwarf ladies to EIGHT goats!

We had a wonderful visit!
They love peanuts!  Don't say "p.e.a.n.u.t.s" unless you really have "p.e.a.n.u.t.s".!!
They liked my sweater.........we aren't used to such big chickens...all mine are little pullets....very different!  Big eggs!
They are running constantly-hard to get pictures!--Just a bluurrrrr......they are not even fenced in here-she can let them out and then just say..........p.e.a.n.u.t.s..........you know the rest......!!

Have a great day!~~Rain

In a one-horse open sleigh..............................musical notes here!........

Sleigh Event~2012~ at the Beem Farm~Palmayra,Maine..........one of the best things in winter for me!  The 11th annual Sleigh Event-they have various events, maneuvers around obstacles, and the Currier and Ives event-my personal  fav-and of course sleigh rides!  So many different beautiful horses!

This is Amy Beem-it's held at their farm-a beautiful old farm with lots of their horses -barns and fields and woods.  The conditions were perfect-it was snowing lightly!!

This wonderful horse has big sleigh bells-you can hear him coming......love that!
A sleigh ride through the woods with my maintenance man is so high on my bucket list!!

It was a great day-one barn was heated to escape the cold for awhile and had four tables-2 with crock pots full of hot soups-every kind!  and homemade treats-rolls-biscuits-all to benefit local Trot Clubs!  Yummm...

Of course you know the little guy was there...riding in his own sleigh-but pulled by mom!  He went for a sleight ride in the hay wagon with the draft horses..........but then managed to find some tractor wheels!  and wasn't he surprised when one was elevated and he could actually spin it around!    Made his day!!
